About Levi's

Levi Strauss, an immigrant from Bavaria (Germany), who opened a durable goods store in San Francisco in 1852, during the California Gold Rush, quickly recognized a common need among his customers: finding workwear that would withstand anything. So, together with tailor Jacob Davis, they invented a system of rivets attached to a thick denim fabric to create a garment. Thus, in 1873, the first work overalls were born. Today, we call them blue jeans or denim.
